The governor
“Blue Lined” the Senior Brown Bag program
– Merced County Food Bank needs your assistance
to keep this program going. By adopting a senior for
$30.00 per year, which amounts to $1.25 per bag helping
to sublimate the costs of $135,105 incurred in the running
of this program, you will make it possible for Merced
County Food Bank to keep this much needed program going.
Through this program the Seniors receive a bag of food
twice a month containing approximately 18-19 lbs. of
good nourishing healthy food such as: whole grain breads,
dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables, dried fruit,
juice, cookies, decaf coffee and other products as available.
These bags have a market value between $80.00 - $90.00.
These bags are filled and delivered to 21 different
sites throughout Merced County, by Merced County Food
Bank and then volunteers distribute them. These bags
of food along with the USDA commodities, also provided
by Merced County Food Bank, will provide a Senior Citizen
food for a month.
The seniors participating in this program only have
an income in the range of $300 to $800 per month and
usually they must decide between medicine, rent, utilities,
or food. Help them not have to make the decision to
go without food. Together we can keep this much needed
program going.
